Our Commitment to Safety & Compliance

In the adventurous environment of Komodo National Park, safety is not a luxury—it is the absolute foundation of every tour we operate. At Bali Komodo Package, we have a zero-compromise approach to the well-being of our guests and our crew. We go far beyond the minimum local requirements, implementing a comprehensive safety management system that covers vessel integrity, crew training, emergency preparedness, and full legal and regulatory compliance. This commitment is the most critical part of our evaluation methodology for all partners.

When you book a Komodo tour with us, you are booking with a professional, legally registered, and fully compliant Indonesian tourism company. This is our promise of peace of mind.

Corporate & Regulatory Compliance

We operate as a fully legal Indonesian entity, PT (Perseroan Terbatas), under the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Our compliance with national and regional regulations is a matter of public record.

  • SIUP Pariwisata (Surat Izin Usaha Perdagangan Bidang Pariwisata): We hold a valid Tourism Business License issued by the Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Ministry of Tourism), which is mandatory for legal tour operators.
  • TDUP (Tanda Daftar Usaha Pariwisata): Our business is officially registered with the local government tourism office in Manggarai Barat, Flores.
  • NPWP (Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak): We are a registered taxpayer with a corporate tax ID number, ensuring we contribute legally to the local and national economy.
  • BPJS Ketenagakerjaan & Kesehatan: All of our employees are registered for Indonesia’s national social security, employment insurance, and healthcare programs, ensuring they are protected.
  • ASITA Membership: We are an active member of the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies, adhering to their code of ethics and professional standards.

Maritime Safety Standards

Our maritime safety protocols are overseen by our experienced Head of Operations (see Our Team) and are strictly enforced on every vessel we charter.

  • Vessel Seaworthiness: Every boat in our fleet, from speedboats to Phinisi schooners, must have a valid and current Surat Kelaiklautan Kapal (Certificate of Seaworthiness) and sailing permit (Surat Persetujuan Berlayar) issued by the KSOP (Harbour Master) for every single trip.
  • Mandatory Safety Equipment: We exceed standard requirements. All vessels are equipped with:
    • SOLAS-approved life jackets for all passengers and crew (including child sizes).
    • Inflatable life rafts with capacity for all persons on board.
    • Multiple fire extinguishers, regularly inspected.
    • GPS navigation and depth sounders.
    • VHF marine radio and satellite phone for communication in remote areas.
    • Comprehensive first-aid kits, including supplies for marine-specific injuries.
  • Crew Certification & Training: Our captains hold, at minimum, an Ahli Nautika Tingkat III (ANT III) license. All crew members are required to have Basic Safety Training (BST) certification. Our guides and key crew members are also certified in Medical First Aid (MFA).
  • Regular Drills: We conduct regular, unannounced safety drills with our crew, covering man-overboard, fire, and emergency evacuation procedures.

Operational & Guest Safety Protocols

Safety extends beyond the vessel to every aspect of your journey.

  • Pre-Trip Safety Briefing: Before departure from Labuan Bajo, every trip begins with a comprehensive safety briefing. This covers life jacket location and usage, emergency signals, vessel layout, and responsible wildlife interaction guidelines.
  • Trekking & Wildlife Safety: All treks to see Komodo dragons are led by our trained guides in conjunction with an official Komodo National Park ranger. We maintain safe distances and enforce all park regulations to the letter.
  • Water Activity Safety: Snorkeling and swimming activities are always supervised. We monitor currents and conditions, and a crew member is always on watch. For strong current locations like Manta Point, we provide a spotter in a dinghy for added security.
  • Emergency Action Plan (EAP): We have a detailed EAP that includes direct contact lines to the BASARNAS (National Search and Rescue Agency), local clinics in Labuan Bajo, and emergency medical services in Bali for rapid evacuation if necessary.
  • Hygiene & Food Safety: Our galleys are held to high standards of cleanliness. We use purified water for all cooking and washing, and our chefs are trained in safe food handling practices to prevent illness.
  • Insurance: While we require all guests to have their own comprehensive travel insurance, our operations are backed by public liability insurance through a reputable Indonesian provider.

Your safety is our highest priority. Our meticulous attention to compliance and safety protocols allows you to relax and fully immerse yourself in the wonders of Komodo, confident that you are in the most capable and responsible hands.
