A Bali + Komodo combo package bundles your Bali stay, the Denpasar–Labuan Bajo flights, all transfers and the Komodo sailing into one booking with one operator. Seven to ten days is the natural length: three to four nights in Bali, a 3D2N or 4D3N phinisi in Komodo National Park, and a buffer night either side of the flight. Indicative all-in pricing (excluding international flights) runs roughly USD 500–800 per person for a 5–7 day standard combo, USD 900–1,500 for a 7–10 day mid-range programme on a deluxe phinisi, and USD 1,800–3,000+ for luxury villa and superior phinisi combinations.
What does a combo package actually cover?
The point of a combo is that one operator owns the whole chain, so nobody can blame anybody else when a flight moves. A standard programme includes: Bali accommodation, airport meet-and-greet at Denpasar, all ground transfers in Bali, the DPS–LBJ return flights, the Labuan Bajo airport–harbour transfer, the liveaboard with all meals, snorkelling equipment and guides, and administration of your Komodo National Park bookings with fees passed through at cost.
It excludes international flights, travel insurance, scuba diving, alcohol, personal spending, and the park entrance and ranger fees themselves — roughly IDR 300,000–400,000 per foreign visitor per park day all-in, subject to change and confirmed at booking.
How do the Bali–Labuan Bajo flights work?
This is the part that breaks unmanaged trips. The hop is short, but the schedule is thin and the morning departure is the only one that reliably connects to a same-day boat.
| Route | Flight time | Carriers | Daily frequency | Typical one-way fare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Denpasar (DPS) → Labuan Bajo (LBJ) | 1 h 10–20 min | Garuda Indonesia, Wings Air/Lion group, Citilink, Indonesia AirAsia | 1–3+ | USD 60–150 |
| Jakarta (CGK) → Labuan Bajo | 2.5–3 h | Direct services, limited | 1–2 | USD 90–200 |
The rule we apply to every combo: only the first departure of the day is booked for same-day boarding. Anything later and a single delay costs you the Padar sunrise, because the boat has to be at anchor before dark. If only an afternoon flight is available on your dates, we build in a Labuan Bajo hotel night instead of gambling with your itinerary.
Seven-day and ten-day sample itineraries
| Day | 7-day combo | 10-day combo |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arrive Denpasar, transfer, Seminyak or Ubud | Arrive Denpasar, transfer, Seminyak |
| 2 | Bali at leisure — beach or rice terraces | Bali south coast, spa, sunset |
| 3 | Bali day tour of your choice | Transfer to Ubud, temples and terraces |
| 4 | Morning DPS–LBJ, board phinisi, Kelor and Kalong sunset | Ubud — waterfalls, market, cooking class |
| 5 | Padar sunrise, Pink Beach, Komodo Island dragons | Morning DPS–LBJ, board phinisi, Kelor and Kalong |
| 6 | Manta Point, Taka Makassar, Kanawa, disembark, evening flight to Bali | Padar sunrise, Pink Beach, dragon trek at Loh Liang |
| 7 | Bali departure | Northern Komodo, Gili Lawa, Siaba Besar |
| 8 | — | Manta Point, Taka Makassar, disembark, fly to Bali |
| 9 | — | Bali — Nusa Penida day trip or rest day |
| 10 | — | Bali departure |
The ten-day version is the one we recommend if you are flying long-haul. It absorbs jet lag, gives Komodo a 4D3N sailing rather than a compressed loop, and leaves a clean buffer day in Bali before your international flight.

Transfers, luggage and the small things that go wrong
We collect you at Denpasar arrivals and drive you to your Bali hotel. On sailing day, a driver takes you to the domestic terminal with enough margin for the queue. In Labuan Bajo the airport is roughly ten minutes from the harbour, and we meet you there rather than sending a pin drop. Large suitcases stay in secure storage in Labuan Bajo — phinisi cabins take soft bags only — and are returned on disembarkation.
What happens if the LBJ flight is delayed or cancelled?
Our rule, stated before you pay: if the airline moves you and you miss boarding, we rebook you onto the next viable departure of the same or higher class at no rebooking fee from us, or refund the unused sailing portion if no departure exists within your travel window. Airline fare rules still apply to the ticket itself, which is exactly why we book flexible fares on the morning service and why travel insurance is on our recommended list rather than our optional one.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa for Indonesia?
Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival or an e-VOA for tourism, extendable once. Requirements change, so check your own government’s advice and Indonesian immigration before travel. We are a tour operator, not an immigration adviser, and we will not pretend otherwise.
What is the domestic baggage allowance?
Typically 20 kg checked plus 7 kg cabin on DPS–LBJ, less on some low-cost fares. Excess is charged at the airport. This is the main reason we store big bags in Labuan Bajo rather than carrying them onto the boat.
Do I need a night in Labuan Bajo before sailing?
Not if you take the first morning flight. If your dates only allow an afternoon arrival, yes — and we would rather add the hotel night than sell you a boarding time that cannot work.
Is travel insurance required?
Not legally, but we strongly recommend a policy covering boat travel and, if you dive, diving to your planned depth. Komodo is remote; the nearest hyperbaric facilities are not around the corner.
Can I book Bali and Komodo separately and save?
Occasionally, on price alone. What you lose is a single point of accountability when a flight moves, which is precisely the scenario combo packages exist for. See how to get from Bali to Komodo step by step if you want to build it yourself.
Can the Bali half be customised?
Entirely. Diving in Amed, surfing in Canggu, a Ubud wellness block, or a family programme with drivers on call — we build around the fixed point, which is the sailing date.
What is the best month for a combined trip?
April to November for Komodo, with June to September the driest and calmest. Bali is pleasant year-round. If your dates fall in January or February, expect rougher seas and consider a shorter sailing.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four months for peak season, three to five months for Christmas and New Year. A daily visitor quota operates in the national park, so popular dates close rather than merely fill up.
